Michael Jeffery
Project Coordinator, New Westminster

We are pleased to introduce you to Michael Jeffery, B.Tech., P.Ag.

Michael Jeffery is a Project Coordinator who has been with SYLVIS since 2014.  He completed a Degree in Ecological Restoration from the British Columbia Institute of Technology in 2013, and a Diploma in Forest Ecosystems Technology prior to that.  With over ten years of environmental work experience, Michael has developed a wide range of technical skills in the field, as well as in the office.  These include environmental sampling, project coordination, data management, and technical report writing.

At SYLVIS, Michael’s primary responsibilities include ongoing environmental monitoring, vegetation management, and small equipment maintenance.  Michael has over five years of working with motorized hand equipment, and this experience has shown to be critical in keeping SYLVIS’s fleet of equipment in good working condition.  His past experiences working with the municipalities of Delta and Burnaby have given him a solid background in the fields of vegetation management, invasive species control, and arboriculture.

Michael supports multiple projects at SYLVIS by conducting environmental sampling of water, biosolids, soil, and vegetation.  These projects range from the treatment of landfill leachate through phytoremediation to the reclamation of mine sites using biosolids.

In his spare time, Michael enjoys getting outside and enjoying nature; whether it's hiking the trails in North Vancouver, spending the weekend camping and hunting, tending to his ever-growing backyard vegetable garden, or spending some quality time with friends at one of Vancouver’s amazing beaches.
