We are pleased to introduce you to Laura Jefferies, MSc., AAg.

Laura Jefferies is an Environmental Scientist with a background in agricultural research. Laura holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Saskatchewan in Plant Science with a research focus on plant responses to chemical applications. Prior to joining SYLVIS in 2018, Laura worked as a Research Agronomist testing chemical efficacy and plant tolerances in various cropping systems. She also examined bio-stimulants as an alternative or complimentary input to synthetic fertilizers. Laura has a comprehensive understanding of integrated pest management and best cropping practices for agriculture in British Columbia.

As an Environmental Scientist at SYLVIS, Laura leads an extensive and innovative landfill leachate management program, and oversees various aspects of client liaising, proposal development, data collection, interpretation, and reporting. Laura is also responsible for managing the internal applied research program at SYLVIS which entails designing experimental trials, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to support business development initiatives, grow institutional knowledge, and to provide added value for clients. Laura is also passionate about researching the use of water treatment residuals for phosphorus binding in soils classified as high environmental risk, thereby utilizing a waste stream from the municipal water purification process to address a real-world challenge.
