Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup

Every year, tens of thousands of Canadians take action against shoreline liter by participating in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. This event is jointly led by the Vancouver Aquarium and the World Wildlife Fund. The event encourages people across Canada to remove shoreline litter to help create healthy waters for everyone, including the wildlife and communities that depend on them. 

SYLVIS hosted its 6^th shoreline cleanup through the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup. This year we helped clean the trails of the Delta Nature Reserve in Burns Bog. With 11 volunteers, we collected over 30 kg of trash. Some of the interesting items removed this year included walkie talkies, a metal picture frame, one boot, and a magnetic key holder.

This program allows SYLVIS employees another way to make a difference, demonstrating environmental stewardship and conservation values. We look forward to participating next year, and hope you will too!
