SYLVIS was initiated to conduct research for the development of operational organic matter recycling options. This was prompted by government interest in the use of biosolids (treated municipal wastewater sewage sludge) as a fertilizer and soil amendment. Fifteen years later, SYLVIS is regarded as a leading international authority in residuals recycling, expanding our knowledge through research and operational organic matter recycling programs.

SYLVIS has grown and diversified since its inception in 1989 to become a leading Canadian environmental consulting firm providing a range of specialized services that includes applied research, environmental monitoring and assessment, land reclamation and restoration, environmental policy and planning, and residuals recycling.
